Mason, the report of the committee was accepted and its recommendations adopted, provided they can be carried out with the amount of the appropriation. Adjourned to meet at 7:30 p. m. E V E N I N G SESSION. T h e board assembled at the hour appointed. The committee on janitors made a partial report, and was granted further time. Prof. Ricker submitted a report in regard to needed repairs on east tower and main stair case in University building. The recommendations of the report were accepted, the repairs ordered done, and $55 appropriated for same (state appropriation). Mr. E. S. Lawrence, head farmer, was appointed superintendent of horticultural grounds, and it was ordered that $200 of his salary be charged to horticultural department. . The painting of the farm house, southwest of main building, was referred to a committee, consisting of Mr. Gardner and the regent. The business agent was directed to purchase one barrel of machine oil. The request of Prof. W e b b , for a plain table costing $350, was referred to Col. Mason. $10 were appropriated for repairing of surveying instruments. T h e manufacturing of library cases in the carpenter shop, was refer-
