MEMORIAL

TO THE HONORABLE MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ILLINOIS, FOE THE SESSION OF 1869.

GENTLEMEN : The Trustees of the Illinois Industrial University, at their recent meeting, appointed a committee to address to you a memorial in regard to the condition and wants of this new State Institution. It is not necessary to recount to you the prominent part taken by eminent citizens of this State, in securing the grant of public lands for industrial education ; nor the almost unprecedented liberality of the citizens of the several sections of the State, in the bids made to secure the location of the University. Never have the people of a state exhibited a higher or broader interest in the foundation of an institution of learning, than the people of Illinois in this.
