O n November 19, 1981, the Board of Trustees approved the organization and consolidation of the Chicago campuses under the administration of a single chancellor, to become effective September L 1982. T o facilitate the necessary identification o f the two locations previously designated the Chicago Circle campus and the Medical Center campus, on July 29, 1982, the Trustees approved their new designation as the "University Center" and the " H e a l t h Sciences C e n t e r , " respectively.
