3«4 B O A R D OF TRUSTEES [July 27 M E E T I N G O F E X E C U T I V E C O M M I T T E E , J U L Y 2, 1931 The Secretary presented for record the minutes of a meeting of the Executive Committee. MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, CHICAGO ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION, JULY 2, 1931 Present: George A. Barr, W . L. Noble, James M . White, and Messrs. Bollenbacher and Merrill of the firm of Granger & Bollenbacher. The following proposal was received from Granger & Bollenbacher for architectural services on the next Medical and Dental College building: The Board of Trustees, University of Illinois Gentlemen: W e will furnish full architectural service on the proposed unit of the University of Illinois Medical and Dental College Building group for which an appropriation of $1,400,000 has been made by the Legislature for a fee of six per cent (6%) of the cost of the work done under our supervision. The $10,000 for which we are under contract to prepare preliminary designs is to be credited as a payment on the proposed contract. W e further agree to reduce our fee by the actual cost of architectural assistance furnished to us through the office of the Supervising Architect of the University. Bollenbacher The Committee adjourned to visit the Laboratory Building now nearing completion, following which they re-convened at the Research Laboratory and Library Building. O n motion of Dr. Noble, concurred in by Mr. Barr, Granger & Bollenbacher's proposal for architectural services was accepted. The Committee then adjourned. James M. White George A. Noble MATTERS PRESENTED BY ACTING PROVOST DANIELS The Board considered the following matters presented by the Acting Provost on behalf of the President of the University. APPROPRIATION OF $24,000 FOR THE GEOLOGICAL. S U R V E Y (1) A recommendation that an appropriation of $24,000 be made from the Reserve and Contingent fund for remodeling the house recently purchased by the University adjoining the Ceramics Building and for building and equiping an additional building to provide housing and laboratory facilities for the State Geological Survey. O n motion of M r s . E v a n s , this appropriation w a s m a d e b y the following vote: A y e , M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r s . E v a n s , Mrs. Grigsby, D r . Noble, M r . Trees, M r . Williams; no, none; absent, M r . Barrett, M r . Blair, M r . E m m e r s o n , M r s . Hopkins. APPROPRIATION FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL. TESTS (2) A recommendation that an appropriation of $1,500 be made from the Reserve an J Contingent fund for psychological tests of the freshman class which will enter the University next fall.
