On motion of Mr. Williams, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Barr, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, Dr. Noble, Mr. Trees, Mr. Williams; no, none; absent, Mr. Barrett, Mr. Blair, Mr. Emmerson, Mrs. Hopkins. APPROPRIATION FOR LEGAL. SERVICES

(4) A recommendation that an appropriation of four hundred dollars be made from the Reserve and Contingent fund to pay for legal services required in the preparation of the suit which had to be instituted by the University to establish the constitutionality of the law authorizing the issue of tax anticipation warrants by the State of Illinois to meet the shortage in the University of Illinois Fund in the State Treasury. The Legal Counsel had previously been authorized by the President of the University and by the President of the Board to secure outside legal assistance in connection with these proceedings. APPOINTMENT OF ASSISTANT TO THE DEAN OF THE COLLEGE OF FINE A N D APPLIED ARTS

(5) A report that Professor Cyrus E. Palmer of the Department of Architecture has been appointed Assistant to the Dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts, in addition to his present professorship, for one year beginning September I, 1931, at a total salary of $5,200. O n motion of M r . Armstrong, this action w a s approved.

(6) When the list of appointments to the clinical faculty of the College of Medicine was presented to the Board of Trustees at its last meeting, it did not include recommendations for appointments to the Department of Laryngology, Rhinology, and Otology, and the Department of Pathology and Bacteriology. These nominations are now submitted and I recommend their approval.
