SCHLATTER A S ASSISTANT D E A N O F T H E C O L L E G E O F C O M M E R C E (36) A recommendation that Associate Professor Charles F. Schlatter of the Department of Business Organization and Operation be appointed Assistant Dean of the College of Commerce and Business Administration, in addition to his professorship, at a total salary of $5,000 a year beginning September 1, 1931. On motion of Dr. Noble, this appointment was made. DEPARTMENTAL REORGANIZATION (37) A recommendation that the following departmental reorganization and changes be authorized: NEW DEPARTMENTS College of Commerce The Department of Public Utilities and Transportation (This is a reorganization to group together courses which at present are scattered among three departments but which are closely related.) College of Medicine The Department of Physiology The Department of Physiological Chemistry (These were formerly one department.) The Department of Neurology and Psychiatry The Department of Pediatrics (These were formerly divisions or sub-departments of the Department of Internal Medicine.) The Department of Orthopedics (This was formerly a division of the Department of Surgery.) CHANGES IN TITLES In the College of Fine Arts the Department of Art and Design to be the Department of Art. In the College of Dentistry the Department of Materia Medica and Therapeutics to be the Department of Dental Pathology and Tlierapeutics. (This title more nearly describes the work of the Department than the former.) These recommendations involve no changes in the budget nor any additions to the staff. O n motion of D r . N o b l e , this r e c o m m e n d a t i o n w a s adopted. TRANSFER OF FUNDS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS M U T U A L BENEFIT HOSPITAL F U N D (38) Dean Thomas Arkle Clark, Trustee of the University of Illinois Mutual Benefit Hospital Fund, offers the University the sum of $2,065.20 from that fund to meet the operating deficit of the McKinley Hospital for the past year. I recommend that this offer be accepted. On motion of Mr. Armstrong, this gift was accepted. PHYSICIANS' EXTENSION COURSES IN ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY AND NEUROPSYCHIATRY (39) A recommendation from the Dean of the College of Medicine that the following Physicians' Extension Courses in Orthopedic Surgery and Neuropsychiatry be authorized: Physicians' Extension Course in Orthopedic Surgery 80. Clinical Course.—-This course is primarily intended for Post-Graduate Students in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. It is designed to present and show the importance of examination and systematic development of indications.
