GEORGE WASHINGTON BICENTENNIAL (22) A recommendation that an appropriation of $500 be made from the Reserve and Contingent fund for the participation of the University in the George Washington Bicentennial celebration in 1932. MCKINLEY HOSPITAL O n motion of Dr. Noble, the President of the Board w a s requested to appoint a special committee of three m e m b e r s to investigate and m a k e recommendations on the problems arising from the operation of the McKinley Hospital. President Armstrong appointed Dr. Noble, M r . Barr, and M r s . Busey to serve on this committee. LOCATION OF ALUMNI MEMORIAL GROUP Dr. Noble, for the special committee on the location of the Alumni Memorial Group, presented the following report: To the Board of Trustees, University of Illinois Your Committee, to which was referred the question of location for the Taft Alma Mater Statue which the Alumni Association is going to give the University, recommends the approval of a location on the meridian axis of the campus and a few feet south of the Auditorium. This is the location recommended by M r . Piatt and M r . Vitale and has been concurred in by Lorado Taft, as evidenced by the enclosed letter from M r . Abbott. W e further recommend that M r . Piatt be asked to design the setting of the Statue, including the pedestal, and that the Supervising Architect of the University be instructed to proceed as rapidly as possible with the construction work. It is understood that the total costs, including M r . Piatt's services, shall be paid by the Alumni Association. The enclosed letter from M r . Abbott evidently anticipates this procedure. Dr. W. L. Marie, Instructor in Art and Design, for five months beginning February 1, 1929, at a cash compensation at the rate of two hundred dollars ($200) a month (this superseding her previous appointment). (January 21, 1929) Berg, Clarence P., Assistant in Chemistry, on one-half time, for five months beginning February 1, 1929, at a cash compensation at the rate of seventy dollars ($70) a month (this superseding his previous appointment).
