APPOINTMENT OF H A R O L D BENINGTON T O B O A R D OF EXAMINERS IN A C C O U N T A N C Y (8) On advice of the Committee on Accountancy I recommend the appointment of Mr. Harold Benington, of thefirmof Reckitt, Benington, and LeClear, to the Board of Examiners in Accountancy to serve for three years from July 1, 1916, to succeed Mr. F. B. Andersen whose term expired June 30, 1926. O n motion of M r . Armstrong, this appointment w a s m a d e . LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR KNIPP (9) Irecommendthat P o e s r Charles T. Knipp of the Department of Physics rfso be given a sabbatical leave of absence for the year beginning September 1, 1926, under our rules. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this leave w a s granted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR CASE (10) I recommend that Associate Professor H. C. M . Case of the Department of Farm Organization and Management be given a leave of absence for one month without pay in addition to his vacation month to enable him to do graduate work at the University of Wisconsin. O n motion of M r . W h a m , this leave w a s granted. REORGANIZATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF THEORETICAL AND APPLIED MECHANICS A N D T H E W O R K O F THE DEPARTMENT O F MUNICIPAL A N D SANITARY ENGINEERING (11) Dean Ketchum makes the f l o i g recommendations f r the n c s a y adolwn o eesr justments required by the retirement of Professor A. N. Talbot, Head of the Department of Municipal and Sanitary Engineering and in charge of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics: I. That the Department of Municipal and Sanitary Engineering be abolished, and that the curriculum in Municipal and Sanitary Engineering be transferred to and become a part of the Department of Civil Engineering. 2. That Professor H. E. Babbitt, Professor of Sanitary Engineering, be transferred from the Department of Municipal and Sanitary Engineering to the Department of Civil Engineering. 3. That an Assistant Professor of Sanitary Engineering be appointed at a salary of #3000 to assist Professor Babbitt in giving instruction in Municipal and Sanitary Engineering subjects. 4. That Professor Melvin L. Enger, Professor of Mechanics and Hydraulics, be appointed Head of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, and that his salary be increased to $6000 a year, beginning September I, 1926. 5. That an Assistant in the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics be appointed at a salary of #1000. I recommend approval. O n motion of M r s . Evans, these recommendations were approved.

REPORT ON HESSEL LAND

(12) Green and Palmer, Attorneys, submit their report on the acquisition of the Hessel Land (see minutes, pages 483, 502). Thereport,the original of which i s filed with the Secretary of the Board, shows that all things necessary to perfect the acquisition of this land by the Board of Trustees, and the vacation of the street which had been dedicated as Hessel Boulevard, have been done by Green and Palmer as attorneys of the Board. Thereportrecites that the Board now has a deed conveying all of Mr. Hessel's interests of every kind and character to the land in question, including Hessel Boulevard, and also records all official action showing the vacation of the dedications made by Mr. Hessel to the City of Champaign, to the Board of Park Commissioners of the Town of Champaign, and to the Board of Park Commissioners of the Town of the City of Champaign.
