MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT KINLEY The Board considered the following matters presented by the President of the University. APPOINTMENT OF DEAN COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY (i) I recommend the appointment of Dr. Frederick B. Noyes, at present Professor of Orthodontia and Director of Children's Clinic, as Dean of the College of Dentistry on the usual one year appointment as Dean, and as Professor of Orthodontia (Indef.) on a half-time basis at a salary of $5000 per year. These are the terms of the present appointment. O n motion of D r . Noble, this appointment w a s m a d e . APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR WALDO SHUMWAY AS ASSISTANT DEAN O F THE COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS A N D SCIENCES (2) On recommendation o Dean Babcock, I recommend that P o e s r Waldo f rfso Shumway, of the Department of Zoology, be appointed Assistant Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, at a total salary of $43 50.1 Professor Shumway will also give one course throughout the year in the Department of Zoology. O n motion of M r s . E v a n s , this appointment w a s m a d e .

APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR M. T. McCLURE AS HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

(3) Professor Daniels and Dean Babcock recommend the appointment of Professor M. T. McClure as Head of the Department of Philosophy. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this appointment was made. APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR FREDERICK W. MARONEY (4) I recommend that Doctor Frederick W . Maroney of Atlantic City, N e w Jersey, be appointed Associate Professor of Physical Education and Athletic Coaching in the Department of Athletic Coaching on indefinite tenure at an annual salary of $6000. O n motion of M r s . Busey, this appointment w a s m a d e .

APPOINTMENT OF DR. EDWARD A. BOYDEN

(5) Dean D. J. Davis and Professor V. E. Emmel, Head of the Department of Anatomy, recommend the appointment of Dr. Edward A. Boyden of the Harvard Medical School faculty as Associate Professor of Anatomy at an annual salary of $5000 beginning September 1, 1926. I recommend approval of this appointment, and request authority to add his salary to the budget of the College of Medicine. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this appointment w a s m a d e . A t this point, M r s . Ickes took her place with the Board. APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR HARRIS FRANCIS FLETCHER (6) I recommend that Dr. Harris F. Fletcher be appointed Assistant Professor of English for one year from September I, 1926, at a salary of $2750. O n motion of M r . Armstrong, this appointment w a s m a d e . APPOINTMENT OF MR. RAYMOND E. GLOS (7) On recommendation of Dean Thomas Arkle Clark, I recommend that Mr. Raymond E. Glos be appointed Assistant to the Dean of M e n for one year, from September I, 1926, at a salary of $1600. O n motion of M r s . Busey, this appointment w a s m a d e . 1^28oo from Liberal Arts and Sciences for Assistant Deanship; £1200 from the Department of Zoology; £350 from the Athletic Association for Coaching Fencing Teams
