The paragraph of the will relating to the University is as follows: " S E C O N D : I give, devise and bequeath to the Trustees of the University of Illinois in the City of Champaign, Illinois, the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars, ($10,000.00), to be knowrt as the "E. A. Wallace Memorial Scholarship", and I request that the Trustees of said University invest and re-invest said sum in safe and sound interest bearing notes secured by mortgages being a first lien—except current non-delinquent taxes and assessments—on the fee simple title of improved farm lands in the State of Illinois; said lands to be of the fair market value of at least twice the amount of the said notes secured thereon; I direct that said Trustees collect and use the net income from said notes in payment of the board and tuition of such young m a n student or students residing in the city of Havana, Illinois, and taking a regular course in said University, as shall be selected and directed each year by the Board of Education of said City of Havana; said Trustees shall on or before August 1st, in each year, report in writing to said Board of Education, the condition of said fund, the net annual income thereof, accrued and accruing, with a list and description of the notes and mortgages in said fund and from w h o m owing and how and by what lands secured." REGISTRATION OF STUDENTS (18) The Council of Administration transmits a recommendation that beginning with September, 1926, the registration of students in the University for the first semester be divided into three parts;first,registration for freshmen on Friday, preceding the beginning of class instruction; second, registration for graduate students on Friday and Saturday preceding the beginning of class instruction; and third, registration for all other students on the following Monday and Tuesday; class instruction to begin on Wednesday as heretofore. I recommend approval. O n m o t i o n of M r s . Ickes, this r e c o m m e n d a t i o n w a s a p p r o v e d . THEFT OF MICROSCOPES (19) The Comptroller reports the theft of two microscopes from Room 317 of the Physics Building in the latter part of November. These microscopes originally cost #151.75 and had a replacement value of possibly $250. N o trace of them has been found, but the investigation is still under way. T h i s report w a s received for record.

THEFT OF PLATINUM CRUCIBLES

(20) T h e Comptroller reports the loss of three platinum crucibles from the Division of Animal Nutrition of the Department of Animal Husbandry. The report indicates that these crucibles disappeared sometime between July 16 and November 13. They were last seen about July 16 when they were placed in a vault. W h e n they were missed several weeks later no trace of them could be found. T h i s report w a s received for record.
