1926] UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS S°5 G R O S S P R I Z E IN A R C H I T E C T U R E (7) Last spring I accepted the offer of a prize of $100 from Mr. Christian Gross, Secretary of the American Embassy at Paris, to be awarded for a design problem in architecture. It was impossible to include the competition in the regular program last year but it was held this fall and completed in December. This report w a s received for record. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR H. S. V. JONES (8) With the approval of the Chairman of the Department of English, and the Acting Dean of the College, Professor H. S. V. Jones requests a leave of absence next year under our rules. I recommend that this be granted. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this leave w a s granted. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR C. E. BRADBURY (9) With the approval of the Acting Head of the Department of Art and Design. and the Acting Dean of the College, Professor C. E. Bradbury requests a leave of absence next year under our rules. I recommend that this be granted. O n motion of M r . Barr, this leave w a s granted. EMERITUS PROFESSORSHIPS FOR DR. BACON AND DR. DAVISON (10) O n recommendation of the Dean of the College of Medicine I request that the title of Professor Emeritus be given to Dr. Charles Davison and Dr. Charles Sumner Bacon. Dr. Davison left our service at the close of last year and Dr. Bacon leaves at the close of this semester. Dr. Davison has been on our faculty since 1899 and Dr. Bacon since 1903. O n motion of M r s . Ickes, this recommendation w a s approved. ADDITIONS TO FLORICULTURE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (11) Dean Mumford r q e t the appointment o Mr. Otto H. Amling o Mayeuss f f wood, Illinois, and Mr. George J. Ball of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, as members of the Floriculture Advisory Committee in place of Messrs. A. T. Hey and W . N. Rudd who recently died. O n motion of M r s . Evans, these appointments were m a d e . APPROPRIATION FOR MEATS LABORATORY AND SALESROOM (12) O n request of Dean Mumford and Professor White, I recommend that the sum of $2,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to complete the reconstruction of the refrigerating conduits and other accessory parts of the refrigerating plant in the old creamery laboratory, which has been transferred to the Department of Animal Husbandry for its use. T h e matter of slaughtering animals in the old Agricultural building w a s referred to the C o m m i t t e e o n Agriculture for investigation and report. APPROPRIATION F O R MEDICAL LIBRARY (13) Dean Davis, at the request of the Library Committee of the College of Medicine, asks for an additional appropriation for the Medical Library. I recommend that #1500 be appropriated from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for the purchase of additional book shelves at the College of Medicine, that the sum of $3600 from the same fund be appropriated for the purchase of additional books, and $400 from the same fund for additional help, making a total of $5,500.
