1917] UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS 555 WHEREAS, H e and his faithful wife, now living at Redlands, California, are not only in poor health, but, aside from the modest bungalow generously provided by the Alumni of the University, are entirely without means of support, therefore be it Resolved, T h a t the Southern California Alumni Association, who are not only in deep sympathy with Mr. and Mrs. Crawford, but v/ho fully realize both their physical and financial needs, respectfully submit the matter to the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, with the hope that some action may be taken which will suitably provide for their declining years; be it further Resolved, That a copy of these Resolutions be spread upon the minutes of this Association, and that copies be sent to the local Alumni Associations, and to the aqfn, THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF T H E UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS, By J A M E S T. E M M A E. BARRETT, '03 President SEIBERT, '91 Secretary Professor James D. Crawford began his services on the faculty of the University as instructor in Ancient Languages in September, 1873. H e left the service of the University August 31, 1893. On motion of Mr. Carr ; it was voted to pay an allowance of thirty dollars a month to Professor Crawford until further notice.
