We also obtained a certificate from the State Bank of Chicago certifying to the balance of cash on deposit to the credit of the treasurer at the close of business Mar. 31, 1911; as being $763,243.47. The following is a reconcilement of the treasurer's account with the books of the University on Mar. 31, 1911: Treasurer's balance, per University books.. Grout,, Winchester, III.: DEAR SIR—I send you herewith a copy of the report on the examination of the books and accounts of the University for the three months ended Mar. 31, 1911. I have looked the report over with some care and believe it correct with a slight exception. I have had on the first page of the report the word "Bills" inserted. On the second page the correction of $383.36 to $283.36 which is correct according to our books. I thought you might wish to examine the report before the next board meeting. Sincerely yours, • S. W.
