1901] PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOAED OP TRUSTEES 181 PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS FOR THE YEAR ENDING AUG. 3!, 1902 M E E T I N G OF S E P T E M B E R 28, 1901. The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois met in the Trustees' Room Library Building, Urbana, Illinois, at 9 o'clock a. m., Saturday, September 28, 1901. The members present were Messrs. Baylies, Bullard,Hatch, McKay, McLean, Nightingale, and Smith and Mrs. Oarriel, Mrs. Abbott, and Mrs. Alexander; absent, Governor Yates and Mr. Oonrad. President Draper was present. The minutes of the regular meeting of June 11, 1901, and of the special meeting of July 6, 1901, were approved as presented by the Secretary. COMMUNICATIONS FROM PRESIDENT DRAPER. lo the Board of Trustees, The following changes and appointments in the instructional force are recommended: 1. That Herbert Windsor Mumford, heretofore professor of Agriculture at Michigan Agricultural College, be appointed Professor of Animal Husbandry and Chief in Animal Husbandry at the Agricultural Experiment Station, at a salary of $2,200 to be charged as follows: $900 to the College funds, $300 to the United States Station funds, and $1,000 to the live stock appropriation of the State Station funds. This succession to the position and title of Dean Davenport in the Department of Animal Husbandry is upon that officer's suggestion. It is rec-
