That William Haw Knox be appointed Instructor in Soil Physics in the College of Agriculture and Chief Assistant in the Station at a salary of $1,200 to be equally divided between the College funds and the appropriation concerning soils of the State Station funds. 3. That Coates Preston Bull be appointed Instructor in Farm Crops in the College and Assistant in Plant Breeding in the Station at $1,200 a year, to be equally divided between the College funds and the United States Station funds. 4. That the title of Arnold Valentine Steubenrauch be Instructor, instead of Assistant, in Horticulture. 5. That Frederick Alexander Mitchell be appointed Instructor in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics at $90 a month for ten months. 6. That Adam Vause Miller be appointed Assistant in General Engineering Drawing at $50 a month for ten months in place of James Franklin Kable who has declined the position. 7. That Cline FJemming Davidson be appointed Instructor in the Preparatory School at $80 a month for ten months. 8. That Marion Ballentyne White be appointed Instructor in the Department of Mathematics at $75 a month for ten months. 9. That the terms of the appointment of Alvin Casey Beal be modified so that it be for twelve months, and that the salary of $900 be paid in twelve installments. 10. That Frank William Scott appointed Fellow in English be appointed Instructor in Bhetorie for ten months at $75 a month, and that his appointment as Fellow be rescinded. 11. That the title of Louis Liston Tallyn of the Department of Civil Engineering be that of Instructor rather than of Assistant in Civil Engineering. 12. That Benjamin Wetmer Brenneman be appointed Instructor in Voice Culture to commence October 1st, at $800 for the remainder of the year, to be paid in nine installments, and that authority be given for the employment of his wife as Instructor in Sight Singing at $500 for the same period, to be paid the same way. 13. That Fred Henry ftankin be appointed as Representative of the College of Agriculture in connection with the Farmer's Institutes; that he have charge of the correspondence relating thereto and arrange for the systematic attendance of members of the faculty at institutes, so far as may be practicable, and that he himself represent all the interests of the University at the institutes so far as he can; also that he encourage and conduct corresponence with the people of the State, touching the interest of scholarship in connection with the farm work of the State in the fullest measure possible; that his appoinment take effect October 1, 1901, and that the salary be $1,500 a year, one half to be paid from the College funds and the other half from the State Station funds. 14. It is recommended that the foregoing appointments lake effect as of September 1, 1901, unless otherwise specially provided. In practically every case authority for the appointment has heretofore been given me by the Board: and in all such cases, and in the case of Professor Mumford, the service commenced with the opening of the University year. 15. It is recommended that the compensation of the janitor at the Agricultural Buildings be $40 a month instead of $32 a month as fixed at the June meeting. 16. Mr. Fred Ladage has help for the last two years an agricultural scholarship which has expired. He has just returned to the University under the impression that he could matriculate and so have his scholarship extended. He is unable to matriculate, however, but can probably do so within the
