McKinlcy H pital <

On J a n u a r y 24. 1017 the late Senator William B. McKinlcy. a distinguished a l u m n u s of the Univcriity. made his initial donation to it for the construction of a hoipi* which should serve both its s t u d e n t s and faculty. The ection of the hospital was begun in 1924 and it s deditted on F e b r u a r y 13. 102';. T h e McKinlcy Memorial Hospital i a well-equipped, modern plant with a normal ipacity of seventy-five beds. It is located in the forestry near the University g a r d e n s and is readily accessible frc the campus and from C h a m p a i g n - U r b a n a . The hospital provides for the care of cases of communicable disease. general ill nee es and for e m e r g e n c y surge Students are admitted to it receive good a t t e n t i o n in pleasant su: roundings from physicians and nurses who have had long :periencc in looking after sick s t u d e n t s .

Plv teal Examinations

All studen except those entering only for summer s< ons. who have not previously taken the medical examation at tl Health Service Station must do so. This exam: given without cost to the students if taken before rcgi ation and at the time of their appointments. Prospective tudents visiting the University during the immer or at other times will find it to their interests to go to the Health Service Station, make an appointment for their imination. 1 get it while in Champaign-Urbana. Such action >av ay and inconvenience during tin •-•gi ation and may prevent neglect of a require rr. hich a fee of $5 may be assessed.

Hospital Association

T h e m u t u a l benefit Hospital Association is the oldest mutual benefit o r g a n i z a t i o n of its type in i tence. It was founded in 1899 to aid s t u d e n t s of the Uni% Illinois t h r o u g h minor or major illn at a m i n i m u m of cost to individual. M e m b e r s h i p is optional on the part of the student, but is highly advisable, particularly in the case of the student whose m e a n s are limited. Semester dues are three dollars, or six dollars per year. In r e t u r n members of the association arc entitled to Wl care in the McKinlcy Hospital for a period not to exceed t w e n t y ht i seme t or tift\ x days per year.
