RVICE :ation conducts investigations in its field, summarizes and brings to the attention of school people the results of research done elsewhere, and otherwise serves the schools Illinois. Its research findings are published in a series of bulletins. Projects involve school finance, fundamental studies, and editing of the "Encyclopedia of Educational Research." Field services include regional conferences, school district surveys, building neei surveys, leadership training programs, remedial reading, and consultation en school organization and administrative problems. The bureau' ' r i on Evaluation provides psychological and aptitude testing service J.t at cost to Illinois high schools to help the schools advise students about plans for continuing education and for life work. In 1948-49 the Btatewlde testing program served 40,000 juniors and seniors In 453 Illinois schools. Director of the bureau is Francis G. Cornell. This Institute offers graduate profLABOR AND INDUSTRI L RELATK resslonal training; extension service — in cooperation with the Division of University Extension for civic labor, and management groups; and a research and information servi ror •lustry and labor.
