BUSINESS PRESENTED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY President's Reports President Corbally presented a report on selected topics of current interest, copies of which were distributed a t the meeting, a n d a copy was filed with die secretary of the board. President Corbally reported briefly on the current status of die University's appropriation bill and other legislative matters. M r . Forsydi gave a brief review of the actions of die Board of Higher Education at its meeting on M a y 9. MINUTES APPROVED T h e secretary presented for approval the press proofs of the minutes of the Board of Trustees meetings of J a n u a r y 18 a n d February 15, 1978, copies of which h a d previously been sent to the board. O n motion of M r . Livingston, these minutes were approved as printed on pages 497 to 549 inclusive. REGULAR AGENDA T h e board considered the following reports a n d recommendations from the president of die University. Award of Certified Public Accountant Certificates (1) T h e Committee on Accountancy recommends that the certificate of certified public accountant be awarded, under Section 5 of the Illinois Accountancy Act of 1943, as amended, to fourteen candidates who have presented evidence that they are holders of valid and unrevoked certified public accountant certificates obtained by passing a standard written examination in another state or territory of the United States and who qualify in all other respects under this provision of the law. T h e names of the candidates have been filed with the secretary. I concur. O n motion of M r . Forsyth, diese certificates were awarded. Revision, University Rules and Regulations, Re: C.P.A. Examination (2) Because of a rapid increase in the number of candidates examined for the C.P.A. certificate (from 2,820 in 1972 to 5,292 in 1977), the University Committee on Accountancy has proposed: (1) that t h e fee schedule be revised downward; (2) that both a chairman and vice chairman be elected by the Board of Examiners; and (3) that the honoraria for the chairman, vice chairman, and other members be increased. T o accomplish these changes, the committee recommends that the University "Rules and Regulations Governing the Illinois C.P.A. Examination" be revised as follows (new material is in italics; deleted material is in brackets): 1. Rule 6 be revised to read: R U L E 6. Filing of the Application and Payment of Fees Applicants for the examination for the C.P.A. certificate under the Act shall file their applications with the Committee on Accountancy at Urbana, Illinois, together with the necessary proofs to establish their eligibility. T h e proper fee must accompany the application. A fee of $85 is prescribed for each examination or re-examination except as indicated under Rule 16 and Rule 17.
