C h i c a g o , Illinois

June 19, 1941 Dear Friends, Library School Alumni: Mrs. Windsor and I deeply regret the fact that my disability prevents out attendance at the meeting in Boston. During the past months since my retirement from active service in ^ University of Illinois, we have travelled in thirty-three states of the Union and have called on or met with about one hundred and seventy of our form-: We had hoped to round out this record by visits in the New England states and by seeing all of you at this Alumni dinner. Not to be there is a real ] disappointment, for our School dinner is always the high spot of the conference j for us. ... Our message to you, then, must be merely the warmest of friendly greetings and of hearty good wishes for each and every one, and we bespeak again tor our successors, the Whites, who are so swiftly making their own place in the University, the same friendly loyalty you have accorded us for so long. j We are looking forward to future meetings. j Sincerely, j (Signed) P. L. WINDSOR r Mrs. W ebb called upon Miss Krieg to give a brief account of the affairs at the school. Miss Krieg spoke of the encouraging situation regarding placement and increase in salary for the less experienced students. She also spoke of Dr. White's successful year as the new director and gave a message from the faculty in which appreciation of and loyalty to Dr. White were expressed. Miss Krieg was followed by Dr. White who gave the main talk on the program explaining his aims for the school. The meeting was then adjourned to Symphony Hall for the Pop Concert, (Signed) ANNE M. BOYD, Acting secretary TREASURER'S R E P O R T
