Ida May Ingles, 1900-01 retired in J u n e 1940 from her position * librarian of the Omaha, Nebraska, T e c h n i c a l H i g h School. Miss lno£ es may be addressed at 1029 P a r k Avenue, O m a h a , Nebraska. *' Adam Strohm, B.L.S.'OO, retired on J u l y 1, 1941 as librarian of the Detroit, Michigan, Public Library, a position in which he has served since 1 1913. Mr. Strohm has held m a n y positions of professional importance including the presidency of the A m e r i c a n L i b r a r y Association in 1930-31* On June 12, 1941, he was a w a r d e d the h o n o r a r y degree of Doctor of Letters by W a y n e University at its annual c o m m e n c e m e n t exercises at Olympia Stadium, Detroit. In conferring the degree, F r a n k Cody, president of the University and superintendent of schools in Detroit, read the following citation: " W o r k i n g with self-effacing m o d e s t y , he has dedicated thirty years of his life to the development of a great cultural center in the city. He has supervised the erection of a magnificent building t o house a distinguished collection of books; he has encouraged the establishment and expansion of specialized services; he has b r o u g h t t o g e t h e r a highly trained staff that are bound to him by deepest ties of respect and affection. This University has been implemented in its development by the farsighted cooperation and counsel he has rendered. In appreciation, as he comes to his year of retirement, we recognized the quiet dignity, the scholarly accomplishment, and the cultural contribution of this good friend a n d colleague." Miss M a b b e t t had been on the staff of the Purdue University Library for fifteen years, and at the time of her cleath was head cataloger there. The late E d n a L. Goss, B.L.S/02, cataloger at Stanford University, who died August 16, 1939 bequeathed $500 to her home town library, the Little Rock Township Public Library, P i a n o , Illinois, a c c o r d i n g to an announcement received here. Willia K.
