She is now librarian of the Mary Hurdm-Baylor College in Belton, Texas, and has inaugurated a number of interesting library activities there. Mrs. Maude Cowan, librarian of the Russell Training School, Southstern Teachers College, Durant, Oklahoma, writes that during the last homecoming celebration the library took part in the parade with a library float which was voted one of the most attractive. The library also observed American education week and National book week with a program for the Parent-Teachers association and exhibits of books, charts and poster s. Arthur R. Curry, librarian of the Rosenberg Library, presided at the Texas Pioneer dinner held at the Texas Library Association meeting in April. Harriet Dickson of the Public Library, Houston, Texas, was co-chairman of the Children's section at the Southwestern and Southeastern Library Association meeting at Memphis. She also led the general discussion at the Children's Group breakfast at the Texas Library Association April 27, at Austin. She is a member of the Subscription Books Bulletin for the A.L.A. • LeNoir Dimmitt, head of the Extension division of the Texas University Library, was elected President of the Texas Library Association for 1935-36. Irene Doyle, Assistant Professor in the Library School at George Peabody, is a member of a Committee of the Tennessee educational commission to establish proper library facilities for elementary and secondary schools. B Charles R. Flack, librarian of the Southwestern Louisiana Institute was co-chairman of the College and Reference Section of the Southwestern and Southeastern Library Association meetings at Memphis. Rudolph Gjelsness librarian of the University of Arizona was elected Chairman of the Catalog section of the A.L.A. for 1934-35. He will teach in the Summer Session of the University of Illinois Library School. Julia Grothaus, librarian of the San Antonio Public Library, led the Pro-discussion on Adult Education at the meeting of the Texas Library Association in April. Martha Guenther was a member of the Committee on Resolutions at the close of the Iowa Library Association meeting held at Des Moines, October 11-13, 1934. Ruth Hammond, librarian of the Wichita Public Library, is the Chairman of the Committee which is drafting the proposed law for the certification of librarians in Kansas. Harold W. Hayden, Supervisor of departmental libraries, University °f Iowa Libraries, was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Periodicals section of the A.L.A. for 1934-35. Elizabeth Hinckley, s.s. '29 and '32, served on the Auditing Committee during the 43rd Annual Conference of the Indiana Library Association Md in South Bend, Indiana, October 24-26. 1934. Beatrice Holt, assistant professor of Library Science at the Kansas £tate Teachers College, Emporia, Kansas, was on the program of the Kansas Library Association at their October meeting. Alma Hook. 1924-25, and Florence Currie, B.L.S. '06, were chosen as ^embers of the advisory group at a recent business meeting of the Md., r * a., and D. C. Regional Cataloguers Group.
