LOUISIANA LIBRARY

Charles R. Flack, librarian of the Southwestern Louisiana Institute, is on the membership committee of the Association. Margaret Herdman, assistant director of the Library School at the University of Louisiana, is a member of the nominating committee, 1932-33. Helmer L. Webb, librarian of Tulane University, is first vice president of the Association. Mr. Webb has recently been appointed chairman of a committee of the New Orleans Library Club to undertake a survey of the newspaper resources of the libraries of New Orleans, hoping in time to extend it to a checklist of the newspapers in Louisiana. Lois F. Shortess, state supervisor of school libraries for Louisiana, is a member of the steering committee of the Association for the Citizens library movement.

MICHIGAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATION

Mabel Conat. associate reference librarian of the Detroit Public Library, was secretary of the Association and wrote up the article about the fortysecond meeting which was held at Traverse City in October, in the Michigan Library Bulletin, January, 1933, Dorothy Dowsett, librarian of the Public Library at Jackson, was also a member of the Round Table Committee for 1931-32. She was a speaker at the meeting of the Jackson Business and Professional Woman's Club held last September, her subject being ' T h e pleasure of books."
