MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS May 23, 1953 The May meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held in the Illini Union Building, Urbana, Illinois, on Saturday, May 23, 1953, beginning at 11:00 a.m. (C.D.S.T.). The following members were present: Mr. Cushman B. Bissell, Mr. Harold E. Grange, Mr. Wirt Herrick, Mr. Robert Z. Hickman, Mr. Wayne A. Johnston, Mr. Park Livingston, Mr. Herbert B. Megran, Mr. Vernon L. Nickell, Mrs. Frances B. Watkins. Governor William G. Stratton was absent. Mrs. Doris S. Holt was not present at the beginning of the meeting but joined it later. Also present were: President George D. Stoddard, Provost Coleman R. Griffith, Mr. Ralph F. Lesemann, Legal Counsel, Mr. J. F. Wright, Director of Public Relations, Mr. Lloyd Morey, Comptroller, and Mr. A. J. Janata, Secretary of the Board. MINUTES APPROVED The Secretary presented the minutes of the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees on March 25, 1953, and of the meeting of the Board on April 20, 1953. On motion of Mr. Grange, these minutes were approved as printed on pages 579 to 643, inclusive. 645
