R E P O R T O F GIFTS AND G R A N T S RECEIVED BY T H E UNIVERSITY (20) The following gifts and grants of funds received by the University have been accepted by the President and are now being reported for official record. The previous report of such gifts was made to the Board on February 23, 1953. Colleges and Schools at Urbana-Champaign A. Undergraduate Scholarships, Prizes, and Other Financial Aids 1. Mr. Robert Allerton, Hawaii, $800 to continue the Robert Allerton Traveling Scholarships in architecture for 1953. 2. Alpha Alpha Chapter of Alpha P h i Omega, national service fraternity, $250 for scholarships for the academic year 1953-1954. 3. Alpha Xi Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha-Sinfonia, professional music honorary fraternity, $50 to be added to the William G. Hill Memorial Scholarship in music. 4. American Air Filter Foundation, Inc., Herman Nelson Division, Moline, $1,000 for three scholarships in the College of Engineering ($400 for a senior, $300 for a junior, and $300 for a sophomore). 5. T h e Chicago Chapter of the American Foundrymen's Society, $5,000 to establish an endowment fund to be known as the Robert E. Kennedy Scholarship in the College of Engineering, Chicago Undergraduate Division, for students in the foundry field. 6. American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Illinois, Chicago, $800 to continue a scholarship for one year of study in a Latin-American university. 7. American Society for Metals Foundation for Education and Research, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts, $400 for a scholarship in metallurgy or metallurgical engineering, for the academic year 1953-1954. 8. Lou Boudreau Trust Fund (a trust set up in the National Bank of Harvey, Illinois, by citizens of that community), $438 for the Lou Boudreau Scholarship awarded to three, male graduates of T h o r n t o n Township High School attending the University of Illinois. 9. Campus Chest, University of Illinois undergraduate fund-raising organization, $1,400 for scholarships. 10. Carbide and Carbon Chemicals Company, T e x a s City, Texas, $l,ooo for a scholarship in chemistry for the academic years 1952-1953 and 1953-1954.
