APPROPRIATION FOR EXPERIMENTAL SPORTS FITNESS SUMMER DAY SCHOOL (9) The Director of the School of Physical Education requests an appropriation of $4,200 for the Experimental Sports Fitness Summer Day School. This program has been conducted during the last three years from nonrecurring funds provided in the budget, but such funds are not available this year. T h e School provides instruction in aquatics, gymnastics, track and field sports, and outdoor games for boys of ages seven through fifteen. Through the testing program the School of Physical Education has been able to obtain research data which is not available elsewhere. A tuition fee of $50 a person will be charged. The estimated enrollment is eighty students, so that most of the expenditures will be recovered. I concur and recommend that an appropriation of $3,950 for salaries and $350 for expense and equipment, or a total of $4,200, be made to the School of Physical Education for this purpose.

On motion of Mr. Herrick, this appropriation was made by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Bissell, Mr. Herrick, Mr. Hickman, Mrs. Holt, Mr. Johnston, Mr. Livingston, Mr. Megran, Mr. Nickell, Mrs. Watkins; no, none; absent, Mr. Grange, Mr. Stratton.

CONTRACT FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES AT CHICAGO PROFESSIONAL COLLEGES (10) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Acting Comptroller recommend award of a contract to Pace Associates, Chicago, for architectural services and the preparation of working drawings for remodeling in the Research and Educational Hospitals and in the Dentistry-Medicine-Pharmacy Building. Charges for services under this contract will be based on actual time payments to the staff of Pace Associates at the following rates: Architect-Planner $6.00 an hour Senior Architectural Draftsman $3.00 to $3-50 an hour Structural Engineering Designer " I Mechanical Engineering Designer \ $3-So to $4.50 an hour Electrical Engineering Designer J Chief Mechanical Engineer $5.00 an hour Senior Engineering Draftsman $2.50 to $3.50 an hour T o these charges will be added 100 per cent for overhead costs. The contract will stipulate that the total charges will not exceed $45,000 without prior approval by the University. The terms of this contract are on the same basis as contracts previously awarded by the Board of Trustees to Pace Associates on February 2,3 and October 22, 1953, for architectural services in connection with preliminary studies of allocation of space in the Dentistry-Medicine-Pharmacy Building and in the Research and Educational Hospitals. Funds are available in the Revenue Bond Construction Account for work to be done on the East Dentistry-MedicincPharmacy Building and in a reassignment of $110,683.76 made by the Board of Trustees on November 20, 1953, for remodeling in the original Dentistry-MedicinePharmacy Building and in the Research and Educational Hospitals. I concur and recommend that the Acting Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract.

On motion of Mrs. Watkins, this contract was awarded and the Acting Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board were authorized to execute the same.

GRANT OF RIGHT-OF-WAY ACROSS CARTER-PENNELL FARMS TO CENTRAL ILLINOIS SERVICE COMPANY (11) T h e Central Illinois Public Service Company has requested permission to construct an electrical transmission line across the north Carter-Pennell farm in Vermilion County. The Company will pay the standard rate for the right-of-way, which in this case will amount to $2,000. T h e Dean of the College of Agriculture,
