gain of 28 per cent. This large increase, however, was only the first wave of the flood, for in 1919-20 the total enrolment was 9,249, a gain of 2,092, or over 29 per cent, over the preceding year, and of over 65 per cent over 1917*18. The increase during the sixteen years from 1904 to 1920 was 5,515, or more than 157 per cent. The largest annual increase previous to 1919-20 was 10 per cent, made in 1907-08. The following table exhibits the growth of each college and school of the University from year to year for the fourteen years from 1904 to 1920, as measured by the enrolment of students in each,1*
