Sixteen Years at the University of Illinois

in Lincoln Hall; twenty reduced statues were placed in University Hall, one in Lincoln Hall and four in Engineering Hall; thirty-three busts were placed in University Hall, sixty-six in Lincoln Hall and one in Engineering Hall. The various bas reliefs, vases, relief heads, medallions in plaster, engravings, lithographs, photographs and paintings were similarly distributed. Upon the erection of a suitable building it is expected that these objects will be again assembled for display as a single collection. Since 1877 biennial appropriations have been made by the General Assembly for "cabinets" as follows:21

These sums have been expended in building up not only the Fine Arts Museum already described but also various departmental museums and collections to be mentioned later. Among the more important additions made to the fine arts collection
