These curricular revisions represent more than a year's study by t h e College of Commerce faculty and its Committee on Courses and Curricula and by the Senate Committee on Educational Policy. I submit also a statement prepared for the Senate b y its Committee on Educational Policy summarizing these proposals. The documents giving the details of the courses required or recommended in each curriculum, as submitted by the College faculty, have been filed with the Secretary of the Board. I concur. APPROPRIATION BY T H E ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (7) The Board of Directors of the Athletic Association has approved an appropriation of 83,000 from t h e reserve fund of the Athletic Association to pay the Alumni Association for services rendered t h e Athletic Association. I recommend approval of this appropriation.

On motion of Mrs. Holt, this assignment of funds was approved.

RELEASE OF F U N D S FOR BUILDINGS AND OTHER CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS (8) The Governor has approved the following release of funds from appropriations made by the University of Illinois for 1949-1951 for buildings and other capital improvements: Release No. 48 "For Permanent Improvements at Chicago—Construction of Utility Distribution System and remodeling of existing buildings" 8 73 808 This is a final release from an appropriation of 8190,000. The Governor has previously released (Releases Nos. 10, 26, 28, 35, 38, and 45) 8116,192 from this appropriation. The funds now released are for the remodeling of existing buildings necessitated by the new steam distribution system in Chicago. Release No. 40 "For Permanent Improvements at Chicago—Construction of addition to present hospital" 583 171 This is a partial release from an appropriation of 87,395,000. The Governor has previously released (Releases Nos. 8, 15, 17, and 19) 86,280,508.18 from this appropriation. The funds now released are for work necessary to complete the structural connection and coordination with the present hospitals, including remodeling of quarters in existing buildings. Release No. 50 "For Equipment for Buildings at Urbana-Champaign and Chicago" 14 000 This is a partial release from an appropriation of 8680,000. The Governor has previously released (Releases Nos. 2, 18, 40, 43, 44, and 46) 8188,253.65 from this appropriation. The funds now released are for equipment in buildings at Chicago. I recommend that the funds released be appropriated for the purposes specified.
