Champaign area, three of them being ultra high frequency and two very high frequency, including Channel 12 which is reserved for educational television. I recommend that the Board of Trustees authorize the filing of a formal application by the University with the Federal Communications Commission for a license to construct a television station and to operate the same on Channel 12.

On motion of Mr. Johnston, the following resolution was adopted:

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois hereby directs its corporate officers to file an application with the Federal Communications Commission for authority to construct a television station and for a license to operate the same on Channel 12.

Mr. Nickell voted "no."

APPOINTMENTS TO T H E STAFF OF THE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (22) The Director of Athletics and the Board of Directors of the Athletic Association recommend the following appointments: LEE P . EILBRACHT, H e a d Coach of Baseball beginning July 1, 1952, at a salary of $1,033.32 for the months of July and August and a salary of $6,200 for one year from September 1, 1952. ALLEN B. KLINGEL, Acting Head Coach of Swimming beginning September i, 1952, and continuing until further notice, at a salary of $6,100 a year. The Director of the School of Physical Education also recommends the appointment of Mr. Eilbracht as Instructor in Physical Education for Men on 12 per cent time for one year from September 1, 1952, at a salary of $800. Mr. Klingel is already an Instructor in Physical Education for Men on 28 per cent time at a salary of $1,425 and will continue in that position. I have approved these appointments.

On motion of Mr. Grange, these appointments were confirmed.
