BEQUEST OF NEAL D. REARDON

(18) T h e University has now received from Mr. C. C. Reardon, Executor, payment in full of the following bequest made by the late Neal D. Reardon of Delavan, Illinois: "I direct that Five Thousand ($5,000.00) Dollars be given in trust to to the college of agriculture, University of Illinois, to found a scholarship, the income to be used annually or otherwise to assist some worthy student who may specialize in soil building, this fund to be known as the Bryan Reardon and Bryan Reardon, Jr. Scholarship in memory of my father and brother who lived as cultivators of Tazewell County, Illinois prairie land." T h e Business Office was authorized to accept this bequest and I am now reporting it for record.

On motion of Mr. Johnston, acceptance of this bequest was confirmed.

GIFTS A N D GRANTS RECEIVED BY THE UNIVERSITY (19) The following gifts and grants of funds received by the University have been accepted by the President in accordance with the statutory procedure and are now being reported for official record. For the Colleges and Schools at Urbana-Champaign A. Undergraduate Scholarships, Prizes, and Other Financial Aids 1. Advertising Executives Club, Chicago, $150 for a scholarship in journalism. 2. Air Foundation, Inc., Cleveland, Ohio, $1,000 for four scholarships in aeronautical engineering. 3. Mr. Robert Allerton, Hawaii, $800 for the continuation of the Robert Allerton Traveling Scholarships in Architecture for 1952. 4. T h e American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Illinois, $1,000 for an Illinois American Legion Pan-American Scholarship for a one-year period of study at a Latin-American university to be awarded to a veteran who served in World W a r s I or II or in Korea, or to a child of such a veteran, academic year 1952-1953. The purpose of the scholarship is to promote good will between LatinAmerican countries and the United States, to develop interest in educational exchanges, and to afford a veteran or the child of a veteran an opportunity to broaden his education. The recipient will be selected by the University Committee on Special Undergraduate Scholarships. 5. The Borden Company Foundation, Inc., New York, New York, $3,000 to continue the annual Borden scholarship awards ($300 each) in agriculture and home economics for five years from 1952. 6. Brook Hill Farms, Inc., Chicago, $100 for the continuation of the Brook Hill Farms Scholarship in dairy technology. 7. Campus Chest, University of Illinois, undergraduate fund-raising organization, $1,385 for undergraduate scholarships. 8. Ceco Steel Products Corporation, Cicero, $4,000 for four scholarships of $500 each in engineering for two years, 1952-1954. 9. Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad Company, Jackson, Tennessee, $2,200 for seven scholarships in agriculture and home economics for the academic year I952-I95310. Elizabeth Hamilton Scholarship, through the University of Illinois Illini Achievement Fund, $500 for continuation of a scholarship in medicine for the academic year 1951-1952. 11. Illinois Association for the Crippled, Inc., $400 for scholarships in occupational therapy. 12. Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs, Third District, $60 to be added to the Third District Fund for scholarships in occupational therapy. 13. Illinois Mining Institute, $200 for scholarships in mining engineering for the academic year 1951-1952. 14. John Morse Memorial Foundation, Chicago, $3,000 for six scholarships in mechanical and electrical engineering ($500 each) for the academic year 1951-1952.
