Mr. Karraker served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois for two full terms, from 1933 to 1945, and was President of the Board from 1936 to 1938. H e represented this Board on the Board of Trustees of the University Retirement System of Illinois from 1041 to 1945. F o r several years he also served as Secretary of the Teachers' Retirement System of Illinois. In reciting these more conspicuous and distinguished areas of public service it should not be overlooked that during his life Mr. Karraker also gave generously of time and energy to civic and philanthropic activities too numerous to detail here. The Board of Trustees desires to pay tribute to a former colleague who served his community and the state of Illinois faithfully and with distinction by recording this memorial in its official minutes and by sending copies to the surviving members of Mr. Karraker's family as an expression of respect and sympathy.
