mittee on Nonrecurring Appropriations has recommended an assignment of funds for remodeling to utilize this space by the construction of a classroom seating thirty-five students on the third floor, a new storeroom on the second floor, and office, storage, and a toilet room on the first floor. Bids have been taken on this remodeling and the Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend award of contracts to the lowest bidders as follows: General — Clyde E. Gates, Champaign $14 730 Ventilating— F. R. Inskip and Company, Champaign 3 066 Electrical — J. M. Bean Electric and Hardware, Urbana 880 Plumbing—Reliable Plumbing and Heating Company, Champaign 3 020 Heating — Reliable Plumbing and Heating Company, Champaign 2 575 I concur. O n motion of M r . Nickell, these contracts were authorized.

ELEVATOR FOR ENGINEERING RESEARCH LABORATORY

(19) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend award of a contract for $17,957 to the Otis Elevator Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for the installation of an elevator in the Engineering Research Laboratory which is being remodeled to house the Control Systems Laboratory. Funds are available in the appropriations made by the Board for this remodeling. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract. O n motion of M r . Herrick, this contract was authorized.

CONTRACT FOR PLASTERING

(20) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend award of a contract to E. G. Lindsey, Champaign, the lowest bidder, for plastering maintenance work as required on the Champaign-Urbana campus during 1951-1952 as follows: Percentage added to total cost of labor for Workmen's Compensation, Social Security, and other costs 7-0% Percentage added to total costs for contractor's profit and overhead 15.0% I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the contract. O n motion of M r s . Holt, this contract was authorized.

CONTRACT FOR EXTENSION OF CAMPUS LIGHTING FACILITIES

(21) Completion of the Animal Sciences Laboratory, the Veterinary Medicine Building, and the Goodwin Avenue extension will necessitate additions to campus lighting facilities in these areas. Approximately 30 per cent of the new lighting needed is in areas west of the Genetics Building, north of the Agricultural Engineering Building, and near the rock gardens north of the Floriculture Building. The cost of the improvements in these areas can be met from funds budgeted for minor improvements for 19511952. The cost for the remaining areas can be charged against the state appropriation for the construction of the buildings. The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for $8,775 to the Brunkow Electric Company, Champaign, the lowest bidder, for the installation of additional lighting. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract. O n motion of M r s . Watkins, this contract was authorized.

CONTRACT FOR LANDSCAPING AREAS OF NEW CONSTRUCTION

(22) The construction of the Animal Sciences Laboratory, the Veterinary Medicine Building, and the extension of Goodwin Avenue will require grading and seeding of the campus areas in the vicinity of those buildings. The Physical Plant
