INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS ALTGELD HALL IMPROVEMENTS EAST ADDITION UNIVERSITY OP ILLINOIS URBANA, ILLINOIS The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, a public corporation, hereinafter sometimes termed "Owner" furnishes the following instructions to prospective bidders desiring to submit Proposals for any portion of the work on the above project. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT: Altgeld Hall is located on the east side of Wright Street between John Street and Green Street on the Campus of the University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois. The proposed work consists of constructing additional classrooms on the east side of the center section of Altgeld Hall. This East Addition will be four stories high plus space for mechanical equipment in the attic. Total area for all five floors Is approximately 15,600 sq. ft. The structural system Is reinforced concrete frame with precast concrete joists and filler blocks. Roof framing is structural steel. Tile roof and stone facing on exterior walls will match existing roof and walls. Separate bids will be received for General Work, Electrical Work, Plumbing Work, and Heating and Ventilating Work, VISITING THE SITE: Each bidder Is required to visit the site and examine it as stipulated in the Supplementary General Conditions. No special arrangements are required to make this visit. INSTRUCTIONS: Proposals must be submitted on the form furnished and shall not contain any qualifications or recapitulation of the work to be done. The same Proposal Form is used for all Divisions of the Work. On the first page of the Proposal Form, Bidders shall underline or circle the Division of work bid upon.
