The funds now released are for the construction of new stairways at the northwest and southwest entrances to the building, contracts for which were awarded by the Board of Trustees on November 29, 1949. Release No. 15 "For Permanent Improvements at Chicago Construction of Addition to Present Hospital" $5 804 n o This is a partial release from an appropriation of $7,395,000. The Governor has previously released (Release No. 8) $246,000 for architectural and engineering services for this project. For preliminary work on plans and specifications for proposed Biology Building : 10 O O O For the Chicago Professional Colleges 7. Remodeling of quarters and equipment for Department of Biological Chemistry to be charged against State appropriations for buildings and other capital improvements for 1949-1951 [100 000] 8. Purchase of three business machines for office of Business Manager of the Chicago Professional Colleges 1 200 9. Remodeling of research laboratory and general service room in the Medical and Dental College Laboratories Building for the Department of Bacteriology 975 10.
