90 BOARD OF TRUSTEES [September 23 (3) authorization of this firm to provide the architectural work for the Physical Medicine addition under the terms of such contract. On motion of Mr. Williamson, these recommendations adopted. were GREEN STREET SIDEWALK (30) Recently bids were taken for reconstruction of sidewalks north of Green Street between Wright Street and Goodwin Avenue, which is necessary because the construction of steam and electrical service Hnes to the new Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Buildings required the removal of former sidewalks. The cost of this sidewalk, accordingly, will be divided between these two projects. The sidewalk leading to the main entrance of Engineering Hall is a maintenance project, the cost of which is to be charged to Physical Plant Maintenance funds. T h e Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend award of a contract to the General Paving Company, the lowest bidder, on the basis of their total base bid of $6,710. I concur and request that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract. O n m o t i o n of M r . ADDITION TO CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR UTILITIES DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM (31) T h e Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend an addition to the contract with Sargent and Lundy, Engineers, Chicago, to provide for engineering services to include drawings and specifications for the extension of steam and electrical service from the Utilities Distribution System to the new Graduate Student and Staff Apartments in Urbana. The Board approved a contract with Sargent and Lundy for engineering services for the Power Plant and Distribution System on November 23, 1945 (Minutes, page 919). The estimated cost of this addition is $1,425, and costs will be computed on the same basis as the original contract, i.e., 6 per cent of the cost of the completed project. Funds are available in the appropriation for student and staff apartments. I concur and request that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the above addition. ELECTRICAL SERVICE FOR BETATRON FOR CHICAGO PROFESSIONAL COLLEGES (32) Incidental to the extension of electrical service for the Betatron for the Chicago Professional Colleges, it will be necessary to conclude the following agreements with the Commonwealth Edison Company: 1. Permit to run overhead lines from University property. 2. Order for labor and material at a cost of $2,273. 3. Meter lease. 4. Facilities rental agreement. Funds are available in the capital and operating appropriations to cover the expenditures resulting from the execution of these agreements. The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller request the approval of these agreements. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute them. O n m o t i o n of M r .
