COMMITTEE TO HEAR OBJECTIONS TO DETERMINATION OF WAGE RATES MADE BY THE UNIVERSITY IN AWARDING CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS AT ROBERT ALLERTON PARK (25) As reported to the Board on June 25, 1949 (Minutes, page 405), objections have been filed, under the prevailing wage act, to the determination of the prevailing rates of wages made by the University in awarding construction contracts at Robert Allerton P a r k in Piatt County. T h e act provides that a hearing on these objections be held. The Board voted that the hearing be conducted by a committee of the faculty to be appointed by the President of the University. I nominate the following: Edward W. Cleary, Professor of Law, Chairman; Cecil A. Moyer, Associate P r o fessor of Accountancy; and John B. Parrish, Associate Professor of Economics. O n m o t i o n of M r s . H o l t , t h i s c o m m i t t e e w a s a p p o i n t e d a s r e c ommended. CLOSING OF THE GALESBURG UNDERGRADUATE DIVISION (26) It seems appropriate at this meeting of the Board of Trustees to make official record of the closing of the Galesburg Undergraduate Division. With this in mind there has been prepared a brochure reviewing the history of the Galesburg Division, entitled The College Made in a Month. I am pleased to present this brochure to the Board as a part of the official report. It will be distributed to members of the General Assembly and other State officials, to the Citizens Committee of the University, and to staff members of the Galesburg Undergraduate Division. I submit also a report prepared by the Comptroller on expenditures, both capital and operating, on the Galesburg Undergraduate Division from the fall of 1946 to its closing date, June 30, 1949 (see Appendix, page 524). APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR F. B. A D A M S T O N E AS H E A D O F DEPARTMENT O F Z O O L O G Y

(28) The Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences recommends the appointment of Professor F . B. Adamstone, now Acting Head of the Department of Zoology and Physiology, as Professor and Head of the Department of Zoology on indefinite tenure beginning September I, 1949, at a salary of $7,500 an academic year. I concur. O n m o t i o n of M r . M c L a u g h l i n , t h i s a p p o i n t m e n t w a s m a d e a s recommended. REPORT ON UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS LEGISLATION (29) As a matter of official information and record, I report the passage by the Sixty-sixth General Assembly of the following legislation affecting the University directly or indirectly (see Appendix, page 526). This report w a s received for record. REAPPROPRIATION OF UNEXPENDED BALANCES (30) T h e Comptroller recommends that the following unexpended balances in appropriations made by the Board of Trustees for 1948-1949 for services and projects not completed as of June 30, 1049, be reappropriated for a period of sixty days from July 1, 1949 (see Appendix, page 530).
