OLANDER, Toledo, Ohio I concur and recommend further that these gentlemen be appointed or reappointed to the Citizens Committee of the University of Illinois. On motion of Mr. Livingston, these appointments were approved. AWARD OF CONTRACT BY THE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (39) T h e Board of Directors of the Athletic Association has awarded a contract to Mr. W . L. Hall for the purchase and installation of a complete underground irrigation system for the gridiron in Memorial Stadium and has assigned the sum of $15,000 from Stadium Maintenance Funds for the completion of the project. Bids were received for this work including the excavation, back-filling, sodding, purchase of pipe, sprinkler heads, tees, valves, and connections as follows: Lynne Meyer $12 500 00 G. S. Chastain 12 850 00 J. L. Johnson & Sons 13 327 60 W . L. Hall 11 750 00 The Comptroller recommends that the action of the Board of Directors of the Athletic Association be approved. I concur in this recommendation. On motion of Mr. McLaughlin, the action of the Board of Directors was approved. LIBRARY BINDING (40) T h e Director of the Library, the Director of Purchases, and the Comptroller recommend placing an order for library binding for two years beginning July 1, 1949, for all University of Illinois requirements (Urbana-Champaign, Chicago Professional Colleges, and the Chicago Undergraduate Division) with Ernst Hertzberg and Sons, Chicago, the lowest bidder. I concur. On motion of Mr. Nickell, this contract was authorized. CONTRACT FOR LANDSCAPING WORK (41) T h e Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for $8,727 to Martin Ivey, Urbana, the lowest bidder, for landscaping the East Chemistry Building and Physics Research Laboratory areas. The total cost is divided into a charge of $6,198 for the East Chemistry Building area and $2,529 for the Physics Research Laboratory area. Funds are available in the State appropriations for the construction of these buildings to cover the cost.
