CONTRACT FOR FIRE ALARM SYSTEM IN MEDICAL AND DENTAL COLLEGE LABORATORIES BUILDING AT CHICAGO (20) The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for $15,506 to the B-H Electric Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for the installation of a new fire alarm system in the First Unit of the Medical and Dental College Laboratories Building and in the Research and Library Unit. Funds are available in the Physical Plant Department budget for this installation. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the contract. CONTRACT FOR LIGHTING OF LIBRARY ROOMS AT CHICAGO PROFESSIONAL COLLEGES (21) The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for $1,118.75 to the H y r e Electric Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for electrical work to improve the lighting in the library work rooms of the Chicago Professional Colleges. Funds have been appropriated by the Board of Trustees for this purpose. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the contract. CONTRACT FOR REMODELING IN RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL HOSPITALS AT CHICAGO (22) The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for $4,287 to the C. W . Haynes Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for remodeling the Otolaryngology Laboratory of the Research and Educational Hospitals in Chicago. Funds have been appropriated by the Board of Trustees for this purpose. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the contract. CONTRACT FOR SIDEWALKS AND CURBS AT CHICAGO PROFESSIONAL COLLEGES CAMPUS (23) The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for $5,240 to T. A. Rehnquist Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for construction of new sidewalks and curbs on the east side of Wood Street between Polk Street and the alley north of Taylor Street and on the south side of Polk Street from Wood Street to the alley. Funds are available for this construction work. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the contract. CONTRACT FOR REMODELING PHYSICAL EDUCATION FACILITIES AT CHICAGO UNDERGRADUATE DIVISION (24) On November 19, 1948, the Board of Trustees appropriated $35,000 for remodeling at Navy Pier to provide additional needed physical education facilities. On January 13, 1049, the Board approved a contract with E. H . Marhoefer, Jr., Company, Chicago, for $12,833 for the first phase of remodeling (general construction work). The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for $18,500 to the Mueller Construction Company, Chicago, the lower bidder, for the second phase of the remodeling (plumbing, electrical, and other mechanical installations). I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the contract. CONTRACT FOR SHOP LIGHTING AT CHICAGO UNDERGRADUATE DIVISION (25) The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for $4,285 to the B-H Electric Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder for electric lighting installations to replace temporary lighting in the Physical Plant Department Shops at Navy Pier.
