CONTRACT FOR REMODELING IN ROOM 4 0 6 DAVENPORT HALL (15) T h e Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend an addition to the standing contract with Lewis S. Colbert, Champaign, for the remodeling of 406 Davenport Hall at an estimated cost of $6,000. Funds are available in a special appropriation made by the Board of Trustees for this purpose. The remodeling is to make the room available for the Department of Animal Science. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller be authorized to execute this addition to the contract. CONTRACT FOR EMERGENCY EXITS IN TEMPORARY HOUSING BUILDINGS (16) The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract in the amount of $8,993 to C. A. Petry and Sons, Champaign, the lowest bidder, for the installation of emergency fire doors in each second story unit of the two-story temporary housing buildings. Funds are available. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the contract. CONTRACT FOR PAINTING IN GALESBURG UNDERGRADUATE DIVISION (17) T h e University is obligated under its lease of the former Mayo General Hospital buildings at Galesburg from the W a r Assets Administration to do certain maintenance work. Bids have recently been secured on exterior painting, caulking, and glazing of certain buildings. This work represents deferred maintenance which was scheduled by the Physical Plant Department following a survey made jointly with representatives of the W a r Assets Administration in December, 1048, and before the decision to close the Galesburg Division was made. The Department of Public Welfare has requested the University to go ahead with this work since it represents maintenance chargeable to a period during which the buildings were occupied by the University. T h e Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend award of the contract for $18,749.92 to B. W . Anderson, of Galesburg, the lower bidder. Funds are available for this work. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the contract. CONTRACT FOR ACOUSTICAL TREATMENT IN T H E MEDICAL AND DENTAL COLLEGE LABORATORIES BUILDING AT CHICAGO (18) T h e Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for $1,526 to the Airtite Insulation Company, Inc., Chicago, for acoustical treatment of Room 702 (a part of the Anatomy Laboratory) in the First Unit of the Medical and Dental College Laboratories Building. Funds for this work are available in a special appropriation made by the Board of Trustees on January 13, 1949, for equipment and improvements in the College of Medicine. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the contract. CONTRACT FOR GENERAL LIGHTING OF ANATOMY LABORATORY AT CHICAGO PROFESSIONAL COLLEGES (19) T h e Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend the award of a contract for $1,354 to the Construction Electric Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for general lighting installation in the Anatomy Laboratory in the First Unit of the Medical and Dental College Laboratories Building at Chicago. Funds for this work are available in a special appropriation made by the Board of Trustees for this purpose. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the contract.
