SERVICES OF PRESIDENT STODDARD TO COMMISSION ON ORGANIZATION OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH OF THE GOVERNMENT (1) T h e President of the University has been requested by Mr. Herbert Hoover, Chairman of the Commission on Organization of the Executive Branch of the Government, recently created by an Act of Congress, to serve on the Commission's Policy Committee. This is being reported to the Board of Trustees as a matter of record.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSOR WARREN H. COLE (2) T h e Provost, acting for the President, has approved a recommendation from the Dean of the College of Medicine that Dr. Warren H . Cole, Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery, be granted a leave of absence on full pay for approximately ninety days beginning February 7, 1948. This leave is for service as Senior Scientific Attache under the auspices of the United States Department of State on a commission to Great Britain to establish working relations with scientific bodies in Great Britain for the exchange of essential scientific information, and to provide for media for the permanent exchange of information. Professor Cole's University work will be taken over by his colleagues without additional expense to the University. Confirmation of this action is requested. O n m o t i o n of M r . W i l l i a m s o n , t h e a c t i o n o f t h e P r o v o s t in g r a n t i n g this leave w a s approved a n d confirmed. AWARD OF CERTIFICATES OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT (3) T h e Committee on Accountancy recommends that the certificate of Certified Public Accountant be awarded the following who have made applications therefor under Section 5 of the Accountancy Act of 1043 and who have presented evidence to the Committee that they hold unrevoked C.P.A. certificates issued by other states on the basis of having passed a written examination, and that they satisfy the other conditions set forth in Section 5 under the Act:

CURRICULUM PREPARATORY TO TEACHING DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING CHILDREN (4) T h e University Senate recommends authorization of the following curriculum (see Appendix, page 1027) preparatory to teaching deaf and hard of hearing children leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in the Education of the Deaf. I concur. O n m o t i o n of M r . W i l l i a m s o n , t h i s c u r r i c u l u m w a s a p p r o v e d a s recommended. CURRICULUM PREPARATORY TO TEACHING MENTALLY HANDICAPPED CHILDREN (5) T h e University Senate recommends authorization of the following curriculum (see Appendix, page 1029) preparatory to teaching mentally handicapped children leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in the Education of Mentally Handicapped Children.
