MEETING OF T H E B O A R D OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS January 8, 1 9 4 8 T h e J a n u a r y meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at the Blackstone Hotel, in Chicago, on Thursday, J a n u a r y 8, 1948, according to the following schedule: 10:30 a.m. — Executive session as in Committee of the Whole. 2:30 p.m. — Open session. T h e following members were present: President Livingston, General Davis, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Holt, Mr. McKelvey, Mr. McLaughlin, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Nickell, and Mr. Williamson. President Stoddard was present; also Professor C. R. Griffith, Provost, Mr. A. J. Janata and Dr. Wilbur Schramm, Assistants to the President, Mr. H . E. Cunningham, Secretary, Mr. I. L. Porter, Treasurer, Professor Lloyd Morey, Comptroller, Professor W . E. Britton, Legal Counsel, and, during part of the day, Dean L. N . Ridenour, Professor N . M. Newmark, and Mr. J. F . Wright, Director of Public Information. MINUTES APPROVED T h e Secretary presented the minutes of the meetings of October 30 and November 29, 1947. On motion of Mr. Davis, the minutes were approved as printed on pages 881 to 946 above. 947
