UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS

939

The second sentence of Section III, paragraph 4-A, of the Policy and Rules Relating to Compensation and Working Conditions of Nonacademic Employees now reads as follows: "In all those classifications where the maximum rate in April 1945 was $235 per month or less, there shall be automatic increases at least once each year until the mid-point of the range of the classification is reached." At the time the policy was written it was desirable to put in this rather specific and limited statement in order to meet the condition which existed, but now it is desirable that the statement be made more general and that the figure used conform to the schedule of ranges recently approved by the Board. The Director of Nonacademic Personnel has recommended that this provision be amended to read as follows: "In all those classifications where the maximum rate is $250 per month or less there shall be automatic increases at least once a year until the mid-point of the range of the classification is reached." The Committee recommends approval. On motion of Mr. McKelvey, this amendment was adopted as recommended.
