18. Owens-Illinois Glass Company, Toledo, Ohio, $1,800 in support of a graduate fellowship in Ceramic Engineering during the year 1947-1948, $1,500 to be used for stipend and $300 for expenses of research. 19. The International Nickel Company, Inc., New York City, $1,500 plus tuition fees in support of a graduate fellowship in Mining and Metallurgical Engineering during the academic year 1947-1948. 20. Asthmatic Children's Aid Society, Chicago, $10,125 to be used as follows: $9,925 for expenses of the Allergy Unit during the year 1947-1948 not covered by the College of Medicine budget, and $200 to cover a previous commitment for technical help made by the Asthmatic Children's Aid for the year 1946-1947. 21. National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, Inc., New York City, $4,800 additional for the study of poliomyelitis patients by means of the electrical stimulating machines which the Foundation is supplying. This supplements a previous grant of $3,500 made last year. 22. American Medical Association, $2,000 for the continuation of a study on resuscitation and carbon monoxide poisoning in the College of Medicine. 23. American Bottlers of Carbonated Beverages, Washington, D. C , $2,500 for a study of the effect of water charged with carbon dioxide on the secretion of acid by the stomach, rate of emptying of the stomach, and rate of absorption of glucose, in the College of Medicine. 24. A. E. Staley Manufacturing Company, Decatur, Illinois, $2,000 for a study of the effect of inositol in preventing experimental cancer of the liver and the development of a fatty liver under various conditions which predispose to its development, in the College of Medicine. 25. Armour Laboratories, Chicago, $800 for research in the Department of Medicine during August, September, and October, 1947. 26. Abbott Research Laboratories, North Chicago, Illinois, $1,500 in support of clinical evaluation of antispasmodic compounds, a study by the Department of Zoology and Physiology. 27. General Mills, Incorporated, Minneapolis, Minnesota, $800 in support of research by the Department of Zoology and Physiology. 28. Committee on Research in Problems of Sex, National Research Council, Washington, D. C , $250 in support of a study by the Department of Zoology and Physiology for the development of a new estrogen test and a pregnancy test.

PURCHASE OF FIDELITY AND BURGLARY INSURANCE (20) Fidelity and burglary insurance now in force will expire January 1, 1948. Quotations were requested from seventy agents representing both stock and mutual companies for comprehensive insurance described as "Dishonesty, Disappearance, and Destruction" coverages as follows: 1. Blanket position bond coverage in the amount of $10,000 applicable to each full or part time University employee, including employees of the University of Illinois Alumni Association. 2. Excess position bond coverage on certain positions. 3. Blanket location coverage on the loss of money, securities, and property occurring within the premises, including damage to the premises, furnishings, equipment, and fixtures in the amount of $40,000 at Urbana-Champaign, Chicago, Galesburg, and Dixon Springs. 4. Blanket location coverage in the amount of $20,000, with $3,000 additional on a second custodian at Urbana-Champaign, on the loss of money, securities,
