ADVISORY COMMITTEES, COLLEGE O F AGRICULTURE (6) T h e Dean of t h e College of Agriculture and Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station recommends t h e following appointments to Advisory Committees of the College of Agriculture for the year 1946-1947. There is a committee for each department of the College and a general committee. T h e total number of appointments is forty-two, of whom seven a r e new (indicated by an asterisk), one is an honorary member, and the others are reappointments. I concur. On motion of Mrs. Grigsby, these appointments were made as recommended.

ENGLISH REQUIREMENT FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS (7) T h e University Senate recommends adoption by the Board of Trustees of the following policy requiring proficiency in English of foreign students: 1. A foreign student shall attain the proficiency in English necessary for adequate work in his other academic courses. T h e judgment of this proficiency shall be under the jurisdiction of the Senate Committee on Student English in conjunction with t h e college in which the student is registered. Such proficiency may on recommendation of the Committee on Student English be accepted in lieu of Rhetoric 1 and 2. 2. N o student shall be allowed to register for a full academic program in other fields before attaining such proficiency. 3. T h e University is under no obligation to give special training for foreign students inadequately trained in English. Yet it is good university policy to do so,
