BOARD OF TRUSTEES

[June 23

CHANGE IN " P O L I C Y A N D RULE5 RELATING TO COMPENSATION AND WORKING CONDITIONS OF NONACADEMIC EMPLOYEES" (26) T h e officials of the College of Agriculture recommend that the farm employees be placed on a 44-Hour base work week schedule, instead of the present 48-hour schedule, effective July I, 1947. The Director of Nonacademic Personnel approves this change, and I concur. An increase in hourly (or monthly) rates is contemplated July 1, as a result of which the total earnings of this group will be approximately the same for the reduced schedule as the present one.

On motion of Mrs. Holt, this change was approved as recommended.

NEW SALARY SCALES IN CIVIL SERVICE POSITIONS (27) T h e Director of Nonacademic Personnel requests approval of new scales of minimum and maximum salaries in Civil Service classifications effective July I, 1947, to replace the salary scales originally established in 1944 and modified from time to time. These new salary ranges have been established after a thorough evaluation of our own positions as compared to similar ones in other services and in consultation with administrative officers who are concerned with these classifications. T h e changes will bring the University salary ranges up to date in the current labor market (see page 479 for list). I recommend approval.

On motion of Mr. Williamson, these scales were approved as recommended.
