Graf Construction Company 2 200 19 200 The Physical Plant Department recommends that the contract be awarded to the lowest bidder, the Mutual Contracting Company, at a guaranteed maximum cost of $14,387, which includes a fixed fee of $2,300. This cost would be charged to the appropriation of $25,000 for physiology, authorized by the Board of Trustees on June 27, 1046. I recommend approval and authorization to the Comptroller and Secretary of the Board to execute the necessary contracts. On motion of Mr. McLaughlin, these recommendations were adopted and authority was granted as requested.

ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR FIRE ALARM SYSTEM

(26) The Physical Plant Department requests approval of the engagement of Graham, Anderson, Probst, and White of Chicago for mechanical services on a fire alarm telegraph system at the Urbana-Champaign campus. The estimated cost is $6,100, payable from a special state appropriation for Fire Protection Facilities which has been released for expenditure. This firm has been approved by the Board for services on several other buildings. I concur and recommend approval. On motion of Mr. McKelvey, this recommendation was adopted.

SPECIAL APPROPRIATIONS FOR NONRECURRING EXPENDITURES (SUPPLEMENTARY)

(27) The Committee on Special Appropriations and Nonrecurring Expenditures recommends assignments from the General Reserve Fund for the following purposes: Raising of level of walk on east side of Burrill Avenue (north of Green Street) $8 000 Improvements in Bevier Hall for Child Development Laboratory.. 6 000 I concur. On motion of Mr. Nickell, these appropriations were made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Davis, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Holt, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McKelvey, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Nickell, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Mr. Green, Dr. Luken, Dr. Meyer.

APPROPRIATION FOR ANNUAL REGISTER

(28) The Director of the University Press requests an appropriation of $25,250 for printing the Annual Register, or catalog, of the University. This is for an edition of 50,000 copies of the 1046-1947 Register, estimated to cost $23,000. An appropriation of $19,000 was made for the 1945-1946 edition which proved insufficient, and an additional $2,250 is needed to pay for that printing. I recommend that this appropriation be made. On motion of Mr. Williamson, this appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Davis, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Holt, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McKelvey, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Nickell, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Mr. Green, Dr. Luken, Dr. Meyer.
