10. Dr. Donald J, Harrison, Boise, Idaho, $100 to be placed in the GallieDitttnar Student Loan Fund in the College of Dentistry. 11. Dairy Specialties, Inc., Chicago, $100 to be used as a scholarship for a student who has done outstanding work in Dairy Production or Dairy Manufactures. 12. W. Atlee Burpee Company, Seed Growers, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Clinton, Iowa, $100 for a scholarship to an outstanding student in Horticulture. 13. Dr. Stephen Johnson, Chicago, $90 to be placed in the Unemployment Relief Loan F u n d in the Chicago Colleges. 14. Walgreen Drug Stores, Chicago, ten shares of Walgreen Common Stock, the dividends of which are to be placed in the H a r r y Goldstine Loan Fund in the Chicago Colleges. 15. Friends of Dean Blair, a portrait of Dean Emeritus Joseph Cullen Blair of the College of Agriculture. 16. Mr. Robert Allerton, formerly of Monticello, Illinois, a small collection of Balinese paintings and wood carvings, Chinese costumes, and other articles of oriental art. 17. Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, a small library of children's books to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery of the College of Medicine. 18. 1946 Graduating Class of the College of Dentistry, $30 for the purchase of dental textbooks for the library lending shelves. 19. Auditor of Public Accounts, $3.32 to be added to the Consolidated Student Loan Fund. 20. Chicago Dairy Technology Society, Chicago, two cash scholarships for undergraduate students in Dairy Husbandry. Candidates for scholarships will be selected by the University but the cash scholarships will be awarded directly by the Society. Grants for Research 1. T h e Nutrition Foundation, Inc., New York City, $15,000 for the continuation of research by Professor W . C. Rose of the Department of Chemistry on "the amino acid requirements of man." 2. American Lava Corporation, Chattanooga, Tennessee, $10,000 in support of research investigations of titanium dioxide dielectric by the Department of Chemistry under the general direction of Professor Duane T. Englis. 3. Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis, Indiana, $6,250 for the continuation of antibiotic research in the Department of Chemistry under the direction of Professor H. E. Carter, for one year beginning August 1, 1946. 4. Olin Industries, Inc., East Alton, Illinois, $2,400 for the establishment of a research assistantship in the Department of Chemistry during the academic year 1946-1047. 5. E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, Wilmington, Delaware, $2,200 for the continuation of the Postgraduate Fellowship in Chemistry during the year 1046-19476. Victor Chemical W o r k s , Chicago, $1,750 for the establishment of a twelvemonth fellowship in Chemistry under the direction of Professor L. F . Audrieth. 7. Norton Company, Worcester, Massachusetts, $1,500 for the establishment of a twelve-month research assistantship in the Department of Chemistry under the direction of Professor John C. Bailar, Jr., for a study of the reactions between fluorides and silicates. 8. Smith, Kline, and French Laboratories, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, $1,500 for the establishment of a fellowship in Organic Chemistry covering a period of three semesters beginning September I, 1046. 9. Magnavox Foundation, Inc., Fort Wayne, Indiana, $1,500 in support of a fellowship in Chemistry (except Biological Chemistry), under the direction of Professor Sherlock Swann, Jr. 10. General Aniline and Film Corporation, Easton, Pennsylvania, $1,375 for the continuation of a fellowship in Chemistry during the period October I, 1946, to September 1, 1947. 11. Rohm and H a a s Company, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, $2,000 ($1,000 for each of the academic years 1945-1946 and 1946-1947) for an assistantship in Chemistry under the direction of Professor R. C. Fuson.
