this project and that an appropriation of $500 be made from the General Reserve Fund to cover the University's share of the cost.

On motion of Dr. Luken, the participation of the University was authorized and the appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Davis, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Livingston, Dr. Luken, Mr. McKelvey, Mr. McLaughlin, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Nickell, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Mr. Green.

INCREASE IN FEDERAL FUNDS FOR EXTENSION WORK IN AGRICULTURE AND HOME ECONOMICS (18) The internal budget for 1946-1947 includes a budget for Federal extension funds based on the same allotment received during 1945-1946. On June 7, 1946, the University was advised that the Bankhead-Flannagan funds allotted to the University of Illinois for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1946, had been increased by $125,089 to a total of $249,859. At the time this notice was received, the preparation of the internal budget had progressed too far to include this additional sum, and a revised budget is submitted now. It is proposed to allocate the increase in the funds as follows: 1. New positions (49 County Assistants for Farm and Home Advisers, Assistant Professor of Agricultural Engineering Extension, Assistant Professor of Crops Extension, and an Assistant State Leader in Charge of Extension Studies and Training) $100 420 2. Salary increases (Increase 99 F a r m Advisers from $2,000 to $2,160 and 82 H o m e Advisers from $2,200 to $2,280. F a r m Advisers and certain H o m e Advisers receive additional salary from the local county organizations.) 22 400 3. Increase in wages appropriation 100 4. Increase in expense and equipment appropriation 2 169 Total Increase in Bankhead-Flannagan Funds $125 089 T h e foregoing budget has been submitted by J. C. Spitler, Associate Director of Agricultural Extension, and has been reviewed by the Comptroller. I recommend its approval subject to adjustment within the total.

On motion of Mr. McLaughlin, these budgetary changes were approved, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Davis, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Livingston, Dr. Luken, Mr. McKelvey, Mr. McLaughlin, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Nickell, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Mr. Green.

ADDITIONAL REAPPROPR1ATION OF UNEXPENDED BALANCES (19) On June 27, 1946, the Board of Trustees reappropriated unexpended balances in appropriations made by the Board for services and projects not completed as of June 30, 1046, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1946.
