APPOINTMENT OF DR. BRYAN I_. WADE AS PROFESSOR AND HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HORTICULTURE (30) T h e Dean of the College of Agriculture recommends the appointment of Dr. Bryan L. Wade, now Director of the United States Regional Vegetable Breeding Laboratory, Charleston, South Carolina, as Professor and Head of the Department of Horticulture on indefinite tenure beginning September 1, 1948, at an annual salary of $9,500. I recommend approval of this appointment.

On motion of Dr. Meyer, this appointment was made as recommended.

AWARD OF CERTIFICATES OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT (31) The Committee on Accountancy recommends that the certificate of Certified Public Accountant be awarded the following who have made applications therefor under Section 5 of the Accountancy Act of 1943 and who have submitted evidence that they are holders of valid and unrevoked certificates of certified public accountants obtained in other states by passing the regular written examinations. They have also met the other requirements specified in Section 5 of the Act.

SUPPLEMENTARY FEDERAL FUNDS FOR AGRICULTURAL EXPERIMENT STATION (32) Additional Federal funds have been allocated to the Agricultural Experiment Station for research to be carried on in cooperation with other agricultural experiment stations in this region. This is a continuation of the program of research in marketing, which was approved by the Board on November 29, 1947 (Minutes, page 931). T h e allocation to the University of Illinois for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1948, is $22,400, and the following budget is submitted: Salaries (appointments to be approved by the President). .$ 9 300 Wages 4 000 Expense and equipment 9 100 Total $22 400 The foregoing budget has been prepared by Dean and Director H . P . Rusk and has been reviewed by the Comptroller. I recommend its approval subject to adjustment within the total.

On motion of Mr. Davis, these funds were accepted and allocated for the purposes recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Davis, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Holt, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McKelvey, Mr. McLaughlin, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Nickell, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Mr. Green, Dr. Luken.
