and recommends the award of the contract to W . L. Hall, the lowest bidder. I concur in this recommendation.

On motion of Mr. Davis, these actions of the Athletic Association were approved and confirmed as recommended.

AUTHORITY TO DEMOLISH AND REMOVE BUILDINGS ON THE KIMMEL FARM (11) On January 8, 1948 (Minutes, page 954), the Board of Trustees authorized the use of the Kimmel F a r m for the construction of a golf course by the Athletic Association. As a part of this project, the Athletic Association requests authority to demolish or remove all existing buildings and fences on the Kimmel Farm and the authority to use all or any part for construction of new buildings on the proposed golf course. In the event all of the lumber so obtained is not needed, authority is requested to trade any of the unused portion for equipment to be used in the operation of the golf course. The Comptroller has reviewed this proposal and recommends that the authority requested be granted. I concur. O n m o t i o n of M r . DEMOLITION OF OLD BUILDINGS AT THE CHICAGO PROFESSIONAL CAMPUS (12) T h e Board was advised on October 30, 1947 (Minutes, page 882), of the need for demolition of old buildings on property acquired by the University for expansion of the Chicago Professional Colleges. T h e Board authorized the employment of special counsel to aid in actions necessary. Bids have been secured for wrecking buildings on the following properties: Group 1. Buildings at 825, 827, 829, 831, 837, 839, 9°7, 917-919 South Wood Street. All of these properties are ready for demolition. Group 2. Buildings at 913 and 815 South Wood Street; 1923 and 1743 West Polk Street. These properties will become available for demolition in the near future. I concur in these recommendations and recommend a special appropriation °f $3,450 from the General Reserve Fund for this work. O n m o t i o n of D r . AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR EMERGENCY LIGHTING SYSTEMS (13) Bids were received for the installation of emergency lighting systems in the auditorium areas of the George Huff Gymnasium, the Auditorium, Lincoln Hall, and Smith Memorial Hall, in accordance with plans and specifications prepared by Graham, Anderson, Probst, and White, Architects, Chicago.
